...and in the 14th day there were peace!!!
Finally my house is empty.
After going to NY to my sister-in-law house to say goodbye to my Mother-in-law (as she was leaving to Brazil), my 2 nieces came back home with us, as they were on vacation and did not have anywhere else to go.
So, with unexpected visitors (ages 9 and 13), we headed home.
I must say it was a learning experience.
I should say that the learning part is that the next time they ask, we should just say no.
But who am I kidding? They would probably come anyway.
Ages 9 and 13 are surely hard ages. These girls never shut up. Talk all the time. About NOTHING at all. Just for the sake of talking.
They are at an age that they want to stay up until late, and we are not baby sitters. They then the next day they sleep until late and when they woke up, they drove my wife crazy with questions and making a mess.
They didn’t want to eat anything. Terrible!!! They only like Junk food.
In summa, these are ages for the parents to bear. No one else has the patience. Nor should anyone else be subjected to such torture.
But it was interesting. And all in all not all that bad.
It gave us a different perspective on how children behave, think and hopefully prepared us to deal with our son/daughter when they approach their age.
They left yesterday... and there was silence in the house...so nice!!! We had Peace!!
I hope I can sleep for a week, then pick up all the shows that were being DVR'd since they arrived (my TV room is also the visitor's room, so I could not watch any of my shows).
In such hours, I am glad a Buddy of mine left my company. I would not bear such guilt of not seeing the shows for that long under his inquisitive IM's to discuss the shows...
I know. I am a slacker. But would you go into 2 teen's room to watch a show you know it is being DVR'd? yeah. I thought so.
