A breast is a breast...

In CNN today: "Babytalk magazine generates controversy with nursing cover"
Babytalk is a free magazine for moms and pregnant women (future moms)
We all know the benefits of breastfeeding over formula.

Here is what a mother from Texas said in a telephone interview (she was concerned about her 13-year-old son seeing it):
"I shredded it. A breast is a breast -- it's a sexual thing. He didn't need to see that.""

How hypocrite is that?
First: The target audience of this magazine is NOT teens.
Second: The kid probably see as many breasts as he wants over the Internet.
Third: If he sees this as a sexual thing, it is EXACTY because you react as such.
Fourth: The perversion is within the one who sees it. So this means this mom is probably someone who sees sex in very little thing, like it is all dirty and she's never done it.

Instead of using the opportunity to teach your kid that this is life and it is pure; and mostly, not all things are perverted.

In some countries, they have baby feeding areas in Malls. You see in park Mom's breastfeeding their babies (of course, they cover with a rag), but it is always seen as a natural thing.
People like her would probably think it is immoral... better to give formula to her baby (or to let it starve) than to feed it properly (and naturally) as it should be the damn right of every mother!!!

Is there any hope for the Middle East?

Common sense shows me that no. No matter what happens there, the world just shuts up.

So a soldier is kidnapped in Israel by some Hamas militants... How is this acceptable for any Sovereign country?
They demand Israel to release prisoners. Israel states they do NOT negotiate with terrorists...
Israel then attacks Palestine. Their government states it can help resolve the crisis IF Israel releases the prisoners...
This is not HELPING resolve the crisis. This is just re-instating the demands of the Militias who kidnapped him.
Israel replies the same to them.
The world? Whines that Israel uses too much force...
How about they order Hamas to give back the soldier and the crisis will be over?

Same happens in Lebanon.
Same response from Israel.
Lebanon calls for help.
Why don't they simply demand Hezbollah gives back the Israeli soldiers?
Isn't Hezbollah part of the Lebanese government?
So... if they give the soldiers back, Israel stops destroying their country... THAT is a fair trade.

Now what it bothers me most of all, is that I don’t understand how the world lets this happen and the only things they do is to make feeble attempts to request Israel some restraint.

Don’t they see what I see?
Hezbollah is mainly from Syria. and the weapons are from Iran.
Iran has a government who always called for Israel’s elimination. Probably they are also providing some soldiers to fight against Israel.
Israel, so far is quiet about this. If they prove Iran/Syria’s involvement, they will have no doubt and add them to their targets.

THIS CAN BE THE BEGINNING OF THE 3RD WORLD WAR!!!

How can people be so blind and not see that?
Doing nothing is almost like helping the crisis to continue and increase.
And no matter what, both sides always loose in a war.
A country can win or loose a war. The people who loose their family/friends will always loose. Not matter what country he is from…

Sleeping beauty

My soon is finally sleeping on his own.
Not thanks to my wife.
When he was crying himself to sleep (a very sad, but necessary step towards learning to sleep on his own), wife fought me, like I was the one who was making her son cry for my pleasure and entertainment.
I had to endure her remarks, and her doubts (all of a sudden she would not understand why letting the baby cry would help him sleep).

Now I know why women needed men to raise a baby. They can't educate/discipline the baby.

This was a good relaxing weekend.

Wifey finally got her Green card (after 5 years waiting).
I painted the 7 ft fence my neighbor put between us, sun, pool and BBQ.
The kid had a blast in his pool, weather was just wonderful.

Now we started planning for our vacation (was supposed to be honeymoon).
Maybe by the end of August we will go to Brazil.
She hasn't gone back since she arrived, almost 10 years ago.
I did not visit my parents for the past 4 years.

I just hoped we would have some money.
We just redid our fence to Vinyl one, and it too all our reserve money.
But this vacation will be bliss as much as it will be a burden...
On one side, my wife will meet my father, he will finally see his grand child, and we will have some quality time, one that we have been planning for ages.
But this will take away vacation days for when Daniela will be born, as well as the all important money we will not have for any eventuality.

I think I'll have to get a second job for this...
...it will remain to be seen.

Adieu Zidane.

We might never know what happened there. But I am sure you will regret that the last thing we see from you is you being expelled from the game for a stupid macho moment.
I can bet you have been called names most of your carrier. People do that so they can get you out of the game.
You were the one person I would not expect to loose your cool. Because you should have seen the bigger picture.

You were the maestro of your team. And you were playing better than them. And there were only 15 minutes left of overtime…. And you lost your focus.
Poor David Trezeguet, who lost his penalty kick. He will have it in his mind that he lost the trophy for France. But this could have been your kick instead. And this could have been your moment. Same as it was your cup.

See you in the legendary games and replays.
Thank you for your beautiful soccer and the beautiful story your feet wrote…. I am just sorry for the foul ending.

See ya in 4 years

So, the world cup is over, and Italy won.
I am happy for them, but I can't shake the feeling that they did not deserve to win.
Analyzing further, I think there are eerie similarities with Brazil's win last world cup.
They both did not play all they could but did enough to win match.
Even when they were not the best team, a lucky kick decided the game for them (like the last minute goals against Germany – or Brazilian’s lucky foul kick by Ronaldinho against UK last cup).

And when there's no "lucky kick", something else happen (like Zidane's expulsion, or the penalty for Brazil that didn’t happen last cup)

Congratulations to them. But they did not deserve to be called the champs; and sure as hell, not the best team in the world.

PS: If you want my opinion, Argentina was the best team. But Germany had the crowd behind them and played much more than expected. Either winning the cup would be cool with me (of course, either them or Brazil or Holland, my favorites).

been a long time...

Ok. I tried to update more often, but life generally has a funny way to keep you occupied.
I will try now to update all the important things that happened so far:

April - My son completed 1 year old. It was a great party, should him not be afraid of people (remember, he spent most of his life alone at home with only me & my wife due to the winter). He cried a lot that night, but overall we had a good time and, as it is becoming a tradition, during the birthday speech, we told our friends that we are expecting a new baby. Should be due in December 1st.

May - Mother in law arrived for her yearly visit. (At least it's just for a month this time).
Coincidentally (as bad news never arrives alone), I was "future fired" by my job. Odd isn't it? The way it was made, was like that: They moved me to another department, and gave me 3 months to find another job. The director of the new department wanted me to work for him, but he did not have a rack open. He would try to get a place for me in his group during those 3 months and if he could not, I would be let go.
Oddly enough, I was not that sad. & years in the same place makes you look ahead for a change.

June - I got the rack. My director is thrilled with the work I did, and (to make it even sweeter), my old director tried to explain his department's shortfalls by saying it is because I left. Isn't it fun? (Or idiotic? he lets me go, and then try to explain he can't keep up because I left). I guess I did do a good job there :)
We also did an ultrasound and got the news it is a girl. I am happy. I wanted one of each and now I got it (of course I would not mind a boy, as 2 boys would be good too. The only thing I did not want was 2 girls).

Well, in a nutshell that was my life for the past months.
From now on, I will try to update more often, and with more variety.
